May 15, 1967 – March 8, 2019

On Friday, March 8, 2019, the brightest star in the sky disappeared.

Teri Ann Cotruzzola; friend, wife, daughter, artist, actress, genius, maverick, mischief maker, mother to Biscuit and all the kittens of the world, lover of pickles and hats and the embodiment of pure love, passed away after a brief but hard-fought battle. In the end, as in life, she was not alone. Teri was surrounded by people that loved her and she took our hearts with her when she left.

Teri wasn’t just a star, she was a supernova. Supernovas burn brighter than anything and when they explode, the blast creates the materials that form the universe—the elements that make up all the planets and everything that inhabits them, even ourselves.

If you loved Teri, then she is with you, she is part of your matter now. You will find her when you’re stacking up food on a fork to make someone “the perfect bite” or when you can’t walk down the block without petting every single dog. When you see beauty in a dilapidated old wall or the perfection of an insanely expensive white T-shirt, that's her. She's with you every time you laugh way too loud and when you're drinking champagne on a Monday morning, as one does, she is there raising a glass.

Teri had an indelible spirit and the void she leaves is achingly vast and unfillable. Her extraordinary, ethereal brilliance faded too soon, but we were all so lucky to have basked in her glow while we could.

She will be missed.

Join us for a celebration of Teri's life!

The party will take place at Dune Studios in Bushwick, Brooklyn, on Saturday, May 18th, from 5 - 9 PM. There will be music and drinks and everyone is welcome. You can come and go as you please, but there will be some scheduled programming, so check the website for updates.

We are accepting contributions for this event because we want to throw a party fit for a star! Any funds raised that exceed our expenses will be donated to the ASPCA in Teri's name.

RSVP here — it doesn't have to be a firm confirmation, but it will help with the planning if we can get an idea of how many people are coming.
